"But I feel softened as I write; the better spirit springs, And I am very sad tonight because of many things:- The friendships that I have abused, the trust I dared betray, The talents that I have misused, the gifts I threw away. But I have done with barren strife and dark imaginings, and in my future work and life will seek the better things." exerpt from 'Cross-Roads' by Henry Lawson.
About Me
- Name: Susan
- Location: Sydney, Australia
I'm the 55 y.o. mother of a 22 y.o. son. I have recently graduated from the University of Sydney (where I work) with a BAppSci in Radiation Therapy. While I live in Sydney, I am originally from Michigan in the US. I am fortunate to have had a variety of amazing jobs (from working on an exploration site in Alaska to working on a research vessel in the Gulf of Papua) and to have done a lot of travelling, but being a lone parent has, to some extent, tied me down. But don't misunderstand - my son is the best thing in my life! This blog was inspired by the December 26 tsunami disaster (hence the title "Swept Away") but not about it. A lot of my life is about loss and I am going to write about that but I know that my losses are nothing compared to that of millions of people today. But I need to take this journey and I am going to do it in a public way.
